WSET Level 5 Honours Diploma
Minimum age requirement 18 at time of booking.
The WSET Level 5 Honours Diploma is an individual research project that enables students to develop skills in research, evaluation and analysis in a wine and spirit related subject of their choice. This qualification is open to anyone holding the WSET Level 4 Diploma.
This single unit qualification assesses the ability of a candidate to develop and apply knowledge gained at level 4 in significantly greater depth and present information in a format suitable for managerial-level presentation. Therefore, the submission of the research project for assessment will not be allowed until the candidate has passed the level 4 Diploma. Students will be required to demonstrate the application of business skills by identifying and solving problems, developing ideas in the creation of new/modified products, services or situations within the 4000 - 5000 word allocation for the project.
Entry Requirements:
To gain the Level 5 Qualification:
A student submitting a research project of between 4,000-5,000 words will be required to demonstrate the ability to carry out an in-depth, extensive study by:
- selecting an appropriate subject
- submitting an outline proposal for review
- carrying out a literature review of the subject area chosen
- planning and investigation
- presenting information in a suitable format
- managing own time to meet objectives
A student enrolling for an Honours Diploma may attend a one-to-one tutorial workshop (attendance at the London office) where guidance will be given on how to approach the project, or enrol onto a distance learning programme with on-line tutor support. However, students are expected to work independently, set their own deadlines, submit a proposal for approval and manage the process of research, production and submission of the project in line with guidance given at the workshop or by the distance learning tutor.
